A Flame of the West

Amid the vast space of the verdant grass wellspring with view of pride and gold was a lady with steel-like legs and a blistering agility. With her jaw-dropping records that bind the whole of her skills and abilities, she is worthy enough to be featured with all victory.

For her, trying new things is the best for a person to find his/her passion. Lou Carlier, a freshman American Field Service (AFS) Intercultural exchange student who’s taking up Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and the current Miss Intrams 2019 1st runner up consecutively clutched three gold medals in the track and field women division both in single and relay running events. She has proven that age and nationality will never block her way to capture the honor of peak.

Provided with the fact that gymnastics was her first sport followed by swimming and table tennis, it built and toned her muscles as it served as her framework in facing the field of running. At elementary, she learned to love running and she discovered that her skill lies in this spot.

“Don’t dream your life. Live your dreams.” these were her words when she was asked about a quote that inspires her. Aside from upbringing herself to the field of running, she also got certificates and recognitions in a 1000m swimming competition and in gymnastic galas. She received a lot of achievements starting when she was in elementary and it was because of her love for sports.

“My parents support me to do some sport because they want me to be in good health, to enjoy and to meet new people. Their reinforcement and support motivates me a lot to become better.” She said.  Indeed, her fondness in physical fitness never fades. In fact, she walks from school to home sometimes instead of riding in a tricycle. With a whopping 2.2 kilometers to walk unto, for her, it is just a perfect exercise as part of her daily routine.

A human’s will power will extend and excel beyond normal capabilities if an athlete’s soul flames like a torch. Trainings are significant so are the endurance, coordination, power and speed needed to ascend. For her, these are just basic things to perform because her past experiences were considered as her foundation and it has made a great impact to where she is right now.

Finding your sport is like finding your stress-reliever. From her single try on her P.E. class, Lou has created and heightened her name alone at the highest point because of her curiosity to conquer things that she has not yet conquered.

With these appreciations, the young novice has set that a sweet-smiling lady inside the class can be a fierce bolt of fire on the grass.
