Ring the alarm

While the sun is shining from the east and your alarm goes off to wake you up, you feel the sudden urge not to want to get out of bed. Your back is glued to your mattress, and your blanket is tightly tucking you in. The alarm won’t go off unless you stand up and make it stop.

YOU. ONLY. HAVE. THE. POWER. TO. MAKE. IT. STOP.

This is the same as what we should do in life, more so as students. This pandemic has given us a little luxury of not rushing things upon waking up because we can cut out bathing, eating, and commuting before attending a class. We are actually given a gift of convenience. The downside of the pandemic has brought us a good side after all. We must make use of this good side effectively and efficiently.

Just like the alarm, the struggles and hardships brought to us by the ongoing crisis are annoying and disruptive of good momentum. They mess with our energy, they bring discouragement, they are the deal breakers. But what we failed to see is that its purpose was to wake us up and make us move.

One of the many complaints of students is that instructors failed to meet them on the given class schedule. In life, you must have a positive perspective and always look at the good side of things, even if it seems impossible. Rather than complaining, you can use the given timeframe to work on other things. Use your time to complete other requirements for other subjects or extracurricular activities. At the very least, you did something productive, and that is a good thing.

The bunch of requirements is also one of the things that is making a student’s life miserable, especially since some weren’t discussed properly or not at all. You spend sleepless nights answering activities, doing video presentations, making countless essays, drafting plates, doing research, and a lot more. You stare at those instruction materials on your screen or in print with the thought of just sleeping it off or throwing a fit. But then again, it won’t be done unless you do it. You always have the power of your own action.

Think of these challenges as your wake-up call, the alarm that will ring your inner self to go through these stages of being a student. You have to keep in mind that the corporate world is a different arena. It may seem that these challenges are pulling us away from our dreams, but they are actually readying us for a great launch.

When you stand up from your bed to finally turn off the alarm, remember that that is the time you start doing something for your future yourself. After all, you set the alarm for yourself, you knew about it, and your mind and body weren’t just prepared for it. So, stand up and make something today. Instead of thinking and complaining about the things that don’t go our way, why not make use of the current situation to be better and discover what more we could do? We may feel the urge of discouragement because of all the requirements that we have to finish, but we must always think about why we are here, fighting for what we want to become.
