To mark the first day of NWUnite Studentsโ Day of Northwestern University, the Supreme Student Council (SSC) spearheaded a series of activities for the students of the institution on April 14, 2023, at NWU grounds. Participants from different colleges joined the events.
The first day includes activities such as Mural painting, Quiz bee, Poster Making Contest (Traditional and Digital) , and Essay Writing Contest (Filipino and English). It is a month-long event that started on April 14 and until June 2, 2023.
Northwesternians showcased their skills and talents in visual arts in the Mural Painting, which revolved around the theme, “Forging our Future.” A total of 8 teams, 1 from each college joined the said competition.
Meanwhile, the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business Education, and College of Allied Health Sciences prevailed in the recently concluded Quiz bee with questions revolving around the history of Northwestern University.
Representatives from each college also competed for the head-to-head Essay writing competition with English and Filipino categories as well as the Poster-Making competition with Digital and Traditional categories held at the Educational Resource Center. All the competitions were centered on theme, “NWU Forges your Future.”
Furthermore, Jezreel Larry Caunca, SSC President, voiced that the said event is not just a part of the 91st Foundation Anniversary but also to look forward to more studentsโ contributions.
โNWUnite is created not just to celebrate the 91st Foundation Anniversary but commemorate the contribution of the students in making NWU thrive towards its first 100 years. The activities we prepared will showcase the skills of the students whether in literary, arts, speaking, filmmaking, and project pitching among others,โ he elaborated.
โIt is part of our objectives to give the best for the students, we want to show that we value the trust which was given to us by the students. We will not waste opportunities like this to give programs that are student-centered and to promote what is best for the students,โ Caunca added.
