Starring a group of famous people who performed different roles to show how was 2020. The story is something that is kind of self-explanatory; it is all about the year 2020. The movie uses fictional characters being interviewed with different roles in the whole society. Most of them showed what happened in the year 2020, such as the racist mother and a politician who will definitely deny everything after seeing the real evidence.
The cast in this show consisted of many standout actors and legends:
Samuel Jackson played a reporter who was being interviewed on events from 2020.
Lisa Kudrow was an interesting character. She personified what many politicians were like this year, lying, going back on their word, and not answering questions with a straight answer.
Hugh Grant virtually transformed into an aging historian; he was questioned, but he felt uncomfortable about being aggressive, and his racist side would come out.
Joe Keery played an influencer-type character, and he nailed the personality to what you should expect as a millennial. The news came out into social media and turns out into money by uploading videos on YouTube.
Christin Milioti also did a great job at playing her character. She was a racist soccer mom and represented people stuck indoors and got indoctrinated by the things they read on social media and groups. She was a disbeliever in many things, and the character was very well-written and performed.
Diane Morgan and Kumail Nanijani tend to play just an average person. She represented many of us during the lockdown, being stuck indoors and bored.
Leslie Jones was aggressive, firm, and sounded like someone who stood up for what she believes in.
Tracey Ullman played the queen.
Samson Kayo is the most highlighted actor in the movie. He is a scientist and was a great character. He pointed a lot of illness compared to other characters. He represented many scientists and hospital staff trying to figure out the origin of COVID-19 and search for the right medicine to make a vaccine. He had many funny moments and was a great inclusion to the story for it shows the main point and the main purpose of the movie.
Starting right at the beginning of the beginning, literally going through until the end of the year or as it felt like a linear timeline of 2020. From the Amazon firing, bomb threats, nation-to-nation wars, USA governments, people’s real reaction up to the latest event.
Many things have been last 2020; the movie’s main focus is the worldwide pandemic and how some governments of each country responded very slowly. The story set out what it wanted to achieve with the exaggerated fictional characters. The movie is not what we did โ hence, we cannot really judge the whole story, only the execution.
One thing that the story highlighted was the end part, where they had to record prompts for the year 2021. The narrator predicts what will happen this year, and that made the whole story a bit tragic.
Overall, the movie is highly recommended for it showed up complete events from the first day of the year up to the end. You can even identify the types of people and their reactions in dealing with life and societal problems based on what happened in the year 2020 if you want to look back on it.
