Through My Window: Is it possible that love may genuinely conquer all?

It is flabbergasting, the way an erudite person can turn into a fool just because of love. People are willing to spend a lot, sacrifice, and exert effort for someone special. Somehow, their actions define the kind of people they are in a relationship with.

It confuses me whether it is because I don’t have quite enough experience when it comes to love or being in love. Or is it because love is still a mystery to me. With that, a question popped into my mind: is it possible that love may genuinely conquer all?

A Netflix teen Spanish romance movie titled “Through My Window” was released on the 4th day of February 2022. This romance movie was actually adapted from the best-selling novel written by Ariana Godoy from the same title Through My Window (A Través De Mi Ventana).

Raquel (Clara Galle) is a student who has the aptitude for writing but is too bashful to share and read it. She is a girl who has a longtime crush and is head over heels for the boy who lives in a mansion next to her house. With that, through the window, they were able to glance at each other’s activities. She saves everything that relates to him, hides it over her personal computer’s secret folder, and even writes a story about him- an obsession that I personally never expected to end in love.

Ares (Julio Peña Fernandez), named after the God of War, is one of the Alpha 3. He is a rich, clever, hunky guy who can move every girl’s heart- really, just like a God. He lives in a mansion, but surprisingly, he still connects to Raquel’s WiFi, which is the reason their paths cross. Ares was not supposed to be with Raquel because she was so out of his league. Besides, his family, specifically his father, objects to their relationship. However, as time passed and they became closer, Ares started developing feelings for her.

Yoshi (Guillermo Lasheras), Raquel’s best friend and wannabe husband. Yoshi was always at Raquel’s side through ups and downs, a boyfriend material, I must say. At the beginning of the movie, I even thought that they had something going on with each other. Yoshi knew that his best friend loved and wanted Ares for her life, but that didn’t change the way he felt for Raquel. He sacrificed and embraced all the pain caused by his unrequited love. In the end, he finds out that Ares also has great affection for Raquel, and he knows that they will be happy in each other’s lives.

A person’s willingness to do everything will be outlined in satisfying love demands, even if this means being disowned by the family. The defiance they are pleased to do just shows how fond they are of you. Also, with the unbearable pain that a person has to accept after sacrificing everything for the sake of the people they love. Love makes us do troubling things.

Things and happenings are certainly inevitable from the moment we choose to fight for love. It is expected that these can be insufferable and torturous because, behind every love story, there are countless numbers of pains that lie beneath it. However, as we also try to fight in every battle. We must carry through everything with the person we love because this can be the key to the outcome we are looking forward.

This movie has made me realize that love might genuinely conquer all. For all of the things we have done, we have become blind by forgetting to prioritize ourselves. We also become martyrs of love when we choose to take pleasure in the pain. After all, it is still the love that prevails. It is still love that pushes us to be our best. And, most importantly, it’s love that conquers all.
